    • Vilshärad
    Vilshärad is a small village with about 300 inhabitants.
    The village is located approx. 10km west of the city Halmstad on the Swedish west coast,
    between Malmö and Göteborg.
    Vilshärad is quite crowded with tourists in the summer due to the close location to the sea
    with nice beaches. It's a popular place for wind- and kitesurfing.
    In the winter most outdoor activities are golf and dog walking.
    A few kilometers south you find the Swedish "riviera" - Tylösand.
    North of Vilshärad you find Haverdal's naturereserve with all bended trees.

    The station's exact coordinates are LAT: 56° 41'29" North  LONG: 12° 41'35" East. The elevation is 13m above the sea.

    The equipment used
    The weather station consists of a Davis Vantage Pro weather station
    with sensors for temperature, humidity, air pressure, rain, windspeed and -direction.
    The station calculates the other values (such as the wind chill factor,
    dew point and lots of other things).

    There are two computers involved:
  • The first computer - Bender - is running two softwares: WeatherLink
    and WsWin32. WeatherLink reads the station and updates the webpages via FTP.
    WsWin32 is mostly used for archival purposes to achieve the long term data on
    the details-page.

  • The second computer - Zoidberg - is my fileserver. It is also running a number of home-made scripts to deal with various things - such as sending data to external sites etc.

    • Bender is running WindowsXP, has a Pentium4 @ 2,4GHz and 1GB of RAM
    Farnsworth is running Xubuntu 8.04, has a Pentium4 @ 3.2GHz and 1GB of RAM and a RAID5 harddrive cluster
    The power to my entire home network and all computers is backed up with a total of three UPS.es, which gives a total runtime of approx. 20min during power failure.

    The webpages are located on a webserver at one.com in Copenhagen and are created by me, using
    various Linux-text-editors, The Crimson texteditor and Adobe Photoshop

    All data presented on this site are free for non-profit use as long as you name the source and the URL to the site (http://vader.vilsharad.net)
    Further data can be presented upon request and mabye payment, depending on the use. Such information can be more detailed curves or tables for a certain day or month.
    If you intend to use data from my site for profit use or are unsure, please contact me.
    Regardless how, I appreciate mails were you explain how you use my weather station! :)
